Activity Based Support
The ALEX Project is an activity-based group aimed at providing support for those with Parkinson’s disease. The group meets at Bollington Health and Leisure every Wednesday morning during term time to encourage Parkinsonians to take part in exercise and remedial massage in what is described as a friendly welcoming environment.
The activities covered include Pilates, tai chi, pool access, gym activity. Massage and podiatry are also provided as well as the group providing opportunities for peer, carer and social support. In addition, various health and social care service staff visit the group regularly to provide information and one-to-one advice for those in need.
The ALEX (Activities, Leisure & Exercise) Project is a sub-group of the Macclesfield Group of Parkinson’s UK.
